Service Description
Instructor: Suzanne Robinson This is a fine art course recommended for students who are serious about their art and able to sit and focus for a two hour class (with a short break as needed). Classes will include drawing from still lives and photos to learn drawing techniques, while utilizing different drawing tools and developing an understanding of composition and perspective. This class will also go beyond the attempt of accurate representation only to allow for individual creativity and a chance to express our inner life. Students will also work with different mediums such as pastels, colored pencils - watercolor pencils, charcoal and paint. Classes may include a still life, where they create their own composition utilizing objects meaningful to their experience, a portrait, an abstract impressionist painting, and other projects inspired by famous artists with a personal twist. We’ll observe examples of different genres and some of the artists that played an important role during that time, and expand and introduce new skills along the way. **Students who are interested in a less structured, more playful environment, where they can do art and make crafts would enjoy the art club environment on Tuesdays more. ** Students are responsible for their own supplies and should bring the following to their first class: • Sketch pad either 9x12 or 11x14 • Starter set of Drawing Pencils (at least 4) This set has a good assortment: (https://www.michaels.com/artists-loft-fundamentals-sketching-and-drawing-set/10125028.html • 1 Kneaded & 1 white eraser • Blending stump • Colored pencil set (either Crayola or Prismatic) • Set of Chalk Pastels (minimum of 12) To keep our guests and staff safe: - If your child is sick please keep them home. - Our classrooms & Gathering Gallery are outfitted with air cleaners with hepa filters. - Hand sanitizer is available throughout the building.
